Back when I visited St. Lucia, I was surprised to hear that it had the greatest number of Nobel laureates per capita. (Turns out, it's tied with Iceland at one apiece for Literature, but that's still quite a feat.)

Omeros
Two years after publishing this epic poem — hailed as a “masterpiece” by The New Yorker — Walcott became the first St. Lucian to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Homer-inspired seven-part epic takes place mostly in Walcott’s home country of St. Lucia but also recounts some of the author’s travels in Portugal, England, Ireland, Italy, and Canada.
