The Blind Owl

Sadegh Hedayat
CATEGORIES: Classic/Culturally Significant

One of Iran’s most important — if not the most important — literary works of the 20th century didn’t even appear in the country until after the 1941 abdication of Reza Shah, who remains a controversial figure in Iranian history. The novel, masquerading as a love story in its early pages and evolving into dark philosophical ruminations, has been compared to the works of Kafka and Poe.
